We invite you to join us from wherever you are at 7pm on Wednesday, March 18, and throughout the time we honor social distancing. We’ll listen to the voice within and share our inner wisdom here to guide us all through challenges and strengthen our resolve to thrive during this time. Let us radiate resilience, vitality, gratitude, kindness, and compassion, and be open to possibility, singing into these times of opportunity to make the choices that create the changes we’ve been praying and singing for!
Share your intentions, inspirations and visions in the “Leave a Reply” box below.
Hi! My name is Lizzy and I stumbled here from a long youtube dive with Bobby McFerrin and a YouTube comment that pointed me to this website. Do you all still gather to share music and improvising with each other? I have done this a few times, and really would love to be in a community to share. I love improvising. Thank you for your time.
Wow, whodathunk we’d still be sheltering in place, six months later!? But that hasn’t stopped me from solo CircleSinging:
I’m in a group called the Immersion Composition Society. Roughly every month, we do a game where we each sequester ourselves for a day and churn out as many songs, instrumental pieces, anything musical, serious or silly, and then share them with the group. It’s a lot of fun, and studying with David Worm these past few years is largely what brought me to a place where I finally felt confident and open/loosened up enough to give it a shot.
In June, I used the CircleSinging technique as my base, layering ostinatos—repeating musical phrases—and then improvising over them. Here are two recordings. They are imperfect (Study 1 is especially loose-goosey), but they sparked ideas for other compositions I’m working on, and were hella fun to create. Which is the whole point of CircleSinging—to let yourself go, listen well, be nonjudgemental, and have a lovely time. Enjoy!

Still, I dearly miss you all, our CircleSing community. We have something truly special—a community built around sharing and trust and encouragement. While we’re not physically together, I still feel you all, and send out my good jujus for all to embrace.
Much, much love!
Didn’t see instructions for how to access/listen or join tonite – Wednesday – but maybe next time? are there instructions? I went to FB page and Website links on email. 🙁 but thank you for doing / offering!
This is a grand experiment at being truly virtual and transcending time and location in our CircleSinging community while we are “sheltered in place” . Sorry, I didn’t give instructions, which obviously are useful! So here you go: Your heart and your voice are the links, no technology needed. And on these airwaves, time and distance have no bearing, so you are invited, right now, or any time, to simply take a deep breath, feel yourself standing in the Circle together with your community of singers – sense the presence of the person on either side of you. Feel, or see, or sense the singers in the circle across from you. Take another breath in through your heart. Notice your breathing. Just allow yourself to be in the circle. Take your time… then let an intention surface: what do you want to sing for? Listen for what others are singing for. Let a tone or a phrase or a whole song emerge – Sing it! Or remain quiet and listen even more deeply. There is no right or wrong way to do this. It’s a “a mistake free zone”! Take your time, find YOUR way. If you feel inspired by the experience, share it here by commenting, or on http://www.circlesing.org on the Share TAB. Like it, share it, pass it forward as you feel.
Let’s see what we can create with our intentions and prayers and visions for the world … Right here, right now, from our place in our shelters.
Thanks for responding. I’m feeling and hearing, and seeing you each and all in the Circle and will delight in meeting you in this virtual CircleSinging heart-space anytime! Sing! Endless love, Jan

A winged inspiration
This blessed rain feels like Nature’s tears of gratitude, grief, and relief! A time to be aware of choices, no longer operating on automatic pilot. Just the awareness of how many times a day I unconsciously touch my face, is a wake up call! This time is a gift. I am holding you, and all of us, in my heart with the prayer that we may answer these challenges in ways that bring about the changes we have been praying for!
Much love.
